The Hardin County History Museum is looking for volunteers

The Hardin County History Museum is looking for volunteers to help at the museum.  Volunteers would be responsible to greet and help guests visiting the museum and making change for any purchases, during museum hours of 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday.  We also need volunteers as guides, for special events and to help with other facets of the museum.   If you are flexible, energetic, and enthusiastic about Hardin County and Kentucky history, then we just might be the place for you.  To pick up an application drop by the museum at 201 W. Dixie Ave. Elizabethtown during regular business hours or go online to, scroll down to click on “volunteers” and down load the application.  You can drop off completed applications during regular business hours.  The Hardin Co. Make an interesting but easy table runner with fall colors that will impress your dinner guest.  Patty will help you design and construct a table runner or quilt using the “tessellating” technique in quilting.

Supply list will be given at registration.

Movies Under the Stars: Finding Dory

The Cecilian Bank, Grace Heartland Church and City of Elizabethtown have partnered together to offer a fun and free way to celebrate summer with movie showings at Freeman Lake Park. The Movies Under the Stars series will feature 3 new movies at the Park this summer. 

Movie titles will be released in the next few weeks but will all be kid and family friendly! 

Movies will begin at dusk with sponsored activities and concessions starting at 8:00 PM. The movies will take place Friday June 9, July 21, and August 11 at the Bandstand area at Freeman Lake Park. Parking will take place in the Ernie Williams field. There will be food items for sale. Patrons are invited to bring chairs and/or blankets to enjoy this family fun night. Cody's Cause: Go BIG or GO HOME Ride For PTSD

Cody's Cause is sponsoring the "Go Big or Go Home" Motorcycle Ride for PTSD, Saturday August 19th at 21 Hinton Hills Loop in Hardinsburg, KY.  
Registration at 9am, kickstands up at 10:30am.  This is a Big Ride of 106 miles, so start out with a full tank.  There'll be two stops and a BBQ Lunch.  
Riders $25, includes meal and event T-Shirt, Passengers $10, including meal.  T-Shirts $20, Lunch $10 and everyone's welcome!  50/50 drawings and lots of fun for a great cause.  Pre-register online to guarantee T-shirt size at

Delbert McClinton At The State Theater

The Historic State Theater and the City of Elizabethtown has partnered to bring Delbert McClinton to the Historic State Theater August 19th sponsored by Fort Knox Federal Credit Union.
“We are so excited to see the continued partnership with the Theater and helping them bring high level artists in our town,” said Mayor Edna Berger. “We can’t wait to see another sold out show across the street.”

Tickets are scheduled to go on sale online Friday, March 31st at 10:00 a.m. VIP tickets will include a meet and greet and first two rows in seating for $60 each. Down Home Nights in White Mills

The White Mills Civic League will once again sponsoring "Down Home Nights in White Mills."
Join us the 3rd Saturday night of July and August at the White Mills Ballpark pavilion.  
On August 19th The Brian Young Band will perform.
Events are free but donations to help the band will be accepted.
Light refreshments will be available to raise money for the "Blossom Girls" from White Mills Christian Church.   

Explore Aviation with Free Airplane Ride

Explore Aviation with Free Airplane Ride.  The Vine Grove Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will provide Young Eagle flights, free for youth between the ages of 8 and 17, on Saturday 19 August at the Vine Grove Airport, weather permitting.  Registration will take place from 9:00 to 11:30 AM.   This is the fifth of seven scheduled events for 2017; each on the 3rd Saturday of the month, through October.  A permission slip, properly authenticated by a biological or adoptive parent or legal guardian, is required and will be available at the airport.  Donations to support Young Eagles or EAA Chapter 657 are accepted, but not required. 


The primary goal of the Young Eagle flight program is to introduce youngsters to the thrill of aviation, and to provide a memorable flying experience.  Each participant will be given a certificate signed by their pilot and world-renowned aerobatic pilot Sean Tucker, the National Young Eagle Chairman.  Additionally, their name will be entered in the official Young Eagle Logbook maintained by the EAA at Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

This year’s Heartland Homecoming Parade will take place in downtown Elizabethtown beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 26th. This marks the 35th year of the downtown parade.
“This parade truly has become a Heartland Homecoming for our whole county,” said Sarah Vaughn, Events Coordinator for the City of Elizabethtown. “Over 75 entries will be displayed with over 20 floats; it’s a great day to be in Elizabethtown.”
Grand Marshal’s for this year’s parade include Ralph Reese, WWII Veteran and beloved community member along with Vietnam Veterans to celebrate the incoming Wall Replica that is scheduled to be installed in 2018 at Elizabethtown’s Nature Park. Carl Swope who was named Time Magazine Dealer of the Year will also be celebrated. As always, Ft. Knox will be represented with their Color Guard first in line and the Adjutant General of the U.S. Army Brigadier General James T. Lacocca and his wife Sandy following soon after.
Some City downtown streets will close as early as 7:00 a.m. with Dixie Highway shutting down at 9:30 a.m. Please use caution when driving through the downtown area that morning. Seating for the parade may take place anywhere along the parade route which runs from the Square downtown to St. John Road.
